The C.E. King Middle School Band Program, in fast-growth Sheldon ISD in northeast Houston, is a well-supported 3C 6th-8th Grade Band program with a staff of 3 full-time band directors that earned a 1st Division at UIL this year with its Varsity and NonVarsity Bands. KMS is one of two feeder schools to C.E. King High School, 6A Band with demonstrated UIL Marching (qualified for Area), UIL Concert/Sight-reading, TCGC Color Guard, and TCGC Indoor Percussion (multi-time consecutive State qualified) success. We are looking for engaging, energetic, organized, and pedagogically strong music educators, preferably of woodwind instrument specialty, who can provide student-centered instruction and make a positive impact in students' lives.
Assist in directing and managing the overall program of instrumental music for the district. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements. Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university,
Valid Texas teaching certificate,
Three (3) years of teaching and band directing experience preferred
SKILLS:
Woodwind Specialist/Experience Preferred
Knowledge of overall operations of the instrumental music program,
Ability to manage budget and personnel,
Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing band,
Ability to implement policy and procedures,
Ability to interpret data,
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
This position is on a 202-day calendar
Salary based on years of experience, minimum starting salary listed below,
15 extra days plus a $4,000 - stipend
